Member Associations
What's the difference between a "Member" and a "Member Association" in terms of belonging to the ND Association of Counties? As an Association, NDACo has 53 members--each of the counties. The governance of the Association is the function of the Board of Directors, which is comprised of representatives from eleven different "Member Associations." They are: Auditors, Clerks of Court, Commissioners, Highway Engineers, Recorders, Sheriffs, Social Service Directors, State's Attorneys, Superintendents of Schools, Tax Directors and Treasurers. These are the larger county departments and/or have traditionally been headed by elected officals.
