Executive Media Training
The Southwest Crime Conference is hosting "Executive Media Training" September 22-23 at the RoughRider Convention Center in Medora. POST has approved this course for sixteen (16) hours. The training will be conducted by Ancil B. "Coach" Sparks. Coach Sparks is a retiree with 32 years of service as a Special Agent with the FBI, twenty-five of which as a Supervisory Special Agent at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA.
This course is designed to provide strategic information relevant to the development of self confidence in dealing with the media. To encourage the practice of applying sound public relation principles and the understanding of law enforcement to professionally cooperate with the media when it is in the best interest of the agency and the public.
This training is free. The Badlands Motel has set aside a block of 85 rooms at $69.00 per night. You may make your reservation by calling 1-800-MEDORA1. Tell them that this is for the Southwest Crime Conference training seminar and that you are tax exempt. Other lodging is available at the RoughRider Hotel and the AmericInn.
There will be a special event for you golfers at the Bully Pulpit Golf Course the evening preceeding the training, so bring your clubs. There will be more on this at the time gets closer.

This training is designed for department administrators and whomever they designate to make press releases and do media interviews, PIOs, County Commissioners, Mayors and City Council members.

NDACo Annual Conference & Expo
The NDACo Annual Conference is NDACo’s premier educational and networking event. Held every October, the conference is a two-day gathering of over 500 officials, guests and vendors from across the state. Conference activities include:
• Educational workshops, including ILG-credit qualifying classes
• Vendor displays in two indoor venues and an outdoor large-equipment display
• NDACo Board of Directors elections
• Discussion and voting on important legislative resolutions and initiatives
• Topical keynote speakers and special guests
• ILG awards and graduation
• Excellence in County Government Awards
• Presentation of scholarship winners
• Scheduled and informal opportunities to network with other county folks, partners, state officials and others.
All county officials are strongly urged to attend the NDACo Annual Conference & Expo. Many consider it essential to their ability to provide the best service to their constituents.
NDLTAP Regional Local Roads Conference
The Annual Regional Local Roads Conference is being held Oct. 20-21, 2010 at the Ramkota Best Western Inn in Rapid City, S.D. This year is the 25th year anniversary of the Regional Local Roads Conference. Registration fee is $70 per person. The registration fee includes: 1 lunch, 1 breakfast, 1 dinner (banquet in celebration of 25 years) coffee breaks, and handouts. It is the responsibility of the individual attending the conference to send in the conference registration and make hotel reservations. When making hotel reservations please confirm your reservation for a late arrival. A block of rooms have been reserved for the conference. When making your hotel reservations use the name County Road Conference (LTAP) . This will ensure your reservations will be charged at a reduced rate. NDLTAP will again be the contact for scheduling the bus trip. Contact person is Denise Brown. The bus will leave for Rapid City, Oct.19. Due to bus capacity, registration for the bus trip will be handled on a first come, first serve basis. There will be a $10 fee charged for the bus trip. The fee will provide lunch in route to Rapid City, and also snacks and pop for the trip to the conference and return trip home.
