National Incident Management System Orientation Course
(NIMS) , Based on the Emergency Management Institute (EMI) IS-700.a. NIMS provides a consistent nationwide template to enable government, private sector, and nongovernmental organizations to work together during domestic incidents. Course is P.O.S.T. (Peace Officer Standards & Training Board) approved.
Basic Incident Command Course
(EMI IS 100.a and EMI IS 200.a) Provides a general introduction to the Incident Command System for individuals who have emergency response duties. This course is pending P.O.S.T. board approval.
Effective Communication Course
(EMI IS 702) Being able to communicate effectively is a necessary part of the job for every emergency manager, planner, and responder. Emphasis centers on public information and joint information system protocols. Pending P.O.S.T. board approval.
Crisis Management for Public Officials Seminar
This seminar, held on a regional basis, gives public officials a look at the incident command/unified command, the National Incident Management System and how first responders, the EOC and the incident commander interact. The Crisis Management Seminar further delineates the roles and responsibilities of elected and appointed city/county/tribal officials during crisis situations. This seminar is P.O.S.T. board approved.
Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Awareness Level Training Course
(AWR 160) Potential terrorist activities may be part of a responder's day to day mission. The 6-hour course includes: prevention and deterrence; chemical agents; biological agents; radiological materials; explosive devices. The training is applicable to all first responders. AWR 160 replaced the current WMD/HazMat Initial Awareness Course and is the only ODP approved course.
