Legislative Services
NDACo’s original purpose—legislative lobbying—remains a priority service today. NDACo’s reputation as a fair and forward-thinking representative of local government has earned respect among legislators and the media. Our legislative staff uses a powerful interactive Web-based tool to track major bills of interest to counties and alert officials to major developments. Important documents relating to current and past sessions are linked on the left.
The Legislative Services provided through this site are explained below. You can always navigate back to this screen by clicking "Legislative Services" in the Action Center (Blue Ribbon at left) or directly to another Legislative Service by clicking on it where it appears on the left, under the Action Center.
County Bills Tracked lists the primary bills we are tracking. The state is using a new system this year, so we can't yet say how it will work, but we will try to provide links to each bill so you can read the exact language and keep track of changes as bills go through the process.
Hearing Schedule is updated weekly so you can find the right room on the right day and time. As you may know, these things change quite often, so if it is important to you, show up early and check the room where the schedule is posted and look for any changes.
Testimony & Other Resources has a couple of handy guides, like Lobbying Tips, How to Testify, and How a Bill Becomes a Law.
Weekly Report is the fun one. It is a narrative of the major happenings of the week, posted every Friday, and includes a comment section so you can give us your two cents worth!
